Juan Figallo named as Outstanding Athlete in Salta

Los Pumas World Cup tighthead prop, Juan Figallo following in the footsteps of backrower Julio Farías Cabello in winning his city´s top sporting award. Farías Cabello won the award for the city of Tucumán while the ten years-younger Juan Figallo has been confirmed as Salta´s finest.  Figallo  was chosen as the 2011 Gold Sportsman of the Year. He accepted the award via the internet as he was unable to attend due to the timing of the event. From Montpellier he commented that "I have been enjoying the festival of sport and I salute all athletes and especially the Paralympics." In his place his parents, William and Dolores accepted the prestigious award. The 23 year old Puma was the only player from the city of Salta in Argentina´s World Cup squad and he was named by the legendary as the best player from Pool B (Argentina, England, Georgia, Romania and Scotland) in New Zealand 2011.

The Silver Award went to athlete, Maximiliano Diaz and the bronze athlete of the year was won by hockey player, Natalia Del Frari. The ceremony took place in the early hours of Friday and in total there were awards representing 45 disciplines. There were also received special mentions for athletes and prominent leaders, while the prize for the best leadership for the year went to the Salta Football League.
