Martín Bustos Moyano boots Montpellier to victory

Martín Bustos Moyano
Earlier this evening last seasons beaten finalists, Montpellier completed two wins in four days to vastly improve its position in the Top 14 Orange standings. Montpellier faced Lyon OU in Lyon. The match had been scheduled to be played earlier in the season but had to be postponed. While Montpellier have gone up in the standings, Lyon, in contrast, are now bottom of the table and could be in trouble as they are a full win behind Bordeaux-Begles. With the bottom two automatically being relegated, Lyon OU now need to string together some wins and hope that two teams out of the likes of Bayonne, Biarritz, Bordeaux-Begles, Brive and Perpignan are not so successful.

The match itself took time to get going but when it did it was all Montpellier. Scoring started after twenty-three minutes when backrower, Alex Tulou dotted down for a try. He scored after Argentina´s Martín Bustos Moyano collected the ball to pass to him near the try line. Montpellier went ahead 14-0 at the interval following three successful penalties from  Bustos Moyano who played the full 80 minutes on the left wing. Lyon cut the deficit to eleven points as fullback Romain Loursac scored the first points of the second half with a penalty of his own. It proved to merely be a glitch, however, as Bustos Moyano took charge of the match as he slotted three penalties to put Montpellier ahead 23-3 after 60 minutes. With thirteen minutes left to play Lyon OU scored a try with replacement frontrower, Tariel Ratianidze giving the home supporters some hope. Lyon´s chances of a victory were slim as the deficit was still thirteen points but Montpellier made sure they would be victorious as former France A centre, Yoan Audrin, scored straight away. With Bustos Moyano´s conversion, Montpellier completed an impressive 30-10 victory with the man from Córdoba collecting a personal haul of twenty points. Pumas World Cup flyhalf, Santiago Fernández also featured for Montpellier and played the full match. Lyon had a Puma too with Argentina´s 8 turned 7, Juan Manuel Leguizamón playing the full 80 minutes. Perhaps Leguizamón is questioning his choice to leave Stade Français? The form he has been in during and since the World Cup certainly places him amongst the worlds best.
