Gonzalo Tiesi returns for Stade Français

Los Pumas international outside centre, Gonzalo Tiesi had his World Cup cut short in September after he was tackled late by English secondrower, Courtney Lawes in the teams´ first match of Rugby World Cup 2011. The tackle, midway through the first half ended Tiesi´s World Cup and he has since been on the comeback trail in Paris. Tiesi´s loss saw Biarritz utility back, Marcelo Bosch, take over the Pumas 13 shirt and he took the opportunity with both hands as he proved to be a worthy replacement both as an attacker and a defender. The pair are now likely to be Argentina´s two players selected to wear the 13 shirt in 2012 in the newly named Four Nations tournament, The Rugby Championship which will feature Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

The fight for the Pumas 13 shirt starts now with Tiesi returning to club rugby for the first time since getting injured vs England.  He has been named at 12 for Stade Français´s opening match of the 2011-2012 Amlin Challenge Cup vs English side, the Worcester Warriors. Tiesi is to form an all-Argentina midfield as he combines with Pumas captain, Felipe Contepomi in the centres. Contepomi has been named at outside centre in what is a reversal of the normal positions of both Pumas players. The side also includes Los Pumas loosehead prop, Rodrigo Roncero and the Argentine born captain of Stade Français and Italy, Sergio Parisse.

Stade Français were runners-up of last seasons Amlin Challenge Cup after losing to the current leaders of the Aviva Premiership, Harlequins, in a tense final which was decided by Argentine international winger, Gonzalo Camacho who scored the games only try to win the title for the London based side. The Parisians are looking to go one better this year and are one of the favorites for the title. Stade Français are riding high after picking up a bonus point win over 2010 champions, Clermont in front of over 70,000 fans this past weekend at the Stade de France. Worcester have a tough assignment as they sit second from bottom in the Aviva Premiship after drawing with the bottom place Newcastle Falcons on the weekend.
