Agustín Gosio heading to England

The list of players from Los Pampas XV getting professional contracts continues to grow as less than two weeks after making his international debut, Agustín Gosio has signed a contract to play in England for Second Division side, London Scottish. Nicknamed Canario, Gosio is capable of playing ni either centre position or on the wing and was a strong performer for Los Pampas XV in the sides victorious Vodacom Cup season in South Africa. His versatility earned him a place in Argentina´s squad for Rugby World Cup 2011 and he played in one match, vs Georgia as a second half replacement. Gosio´s World Cup game time was brief, as he only played eight minutes of the match, but he did the job well as he scored a try after linking with winger Juan Imhoff who has also just signed for Racing Metro in France.

Gosio received a number of offers to play professionally in Europe but opted for London Scottish on a seven month contract (until the end of the 2011-2012 season) as it was the only concrete offer. The 28 year old´s chances of future selection for Los Pumas are now likely to increase as his exposure to professional rugby combined with the likelihood of regular game time should help his progression. Gosio´s move to London Scottish will be his first time as a professional player, having previously played in Buenos Aires for Newman, the same club that produced Stade Français flyhalf Felipe Contepomi and Leicester Tigers loosehead prop Marocs Ayerza.
