Canadian international forward, Adam Kleeberger, was one of the hottest talking points during the pool phase of Rugby World Cup 2011 due to his facial hair. The backrower lost the beard on Monday afternoon as a crowd of five hundred people gathered at the University of Victoria Student Union Building. Canadian comedian, Rick Mercer, of the CBC network did the honors as he clipped and shaved Kleeberger clean after nine months of non-stop growth. Kleeberger didn´t just have his beard removed for the sake it or. Rather, he did so in the name of charity and so far he has been able to raise over $5000.
It is still possible to donate and Kleeberger has two campaigns he is supporting. The first is for Rugby World Cup 2011 hosts, New Zealand, with money going to help rebuild the earth quake devastated Christchurch. www.donate.rugbycanada.ca/e/Shear_the_Beard While the second is Movember in which Kleeberger will participate. It is a month-long campaign where men start clean-shaven and grow a moustache to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer. Kleeberger is a part of the Canadian Rugby Sevens team which will play in the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico in ten days time.
