Argentina Players in France - Biarritz

The Atlantic Ocean resort town of Biarritz may not be the largest city in South Western France but it is certainly a powerhouse in rugby terms. The team finished fifth in last seasons Top 14 competition and was also a Quarter Finalist in the Heineken Cup. Biarritz us typical of South Western France with a small stadium that has a capacity for 13,500 fans and as such relocating big matches to the nearest big city. Curiously, given Biarritz's geographical location, this means playing matches in Spain. The club has regularly moved home Heineken Cup matches to San Sebastien for over five years and more recently has also moved Top 14 fixtures. Biarritz is a former French Champion having won the title for the first time in 1935 and mnost recently doing so in 2006. The club has come close to European glory having been Heineken Cup finaliksts in 2006 and 2010.

The club is packed with world class players and will have five players in the French squad for the Rugby World Cup which starts this week. Prop Fabien Barcella, backrowers Imanol Harinordoquy and Raphaël Lakafia, scrumhalf Dimitri Yachvili and utility back Damien Traille are all top performers. The club also has notable players from Australia, England, Fiji, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa as well as players from Argentina and the United States of America. USA international winger, Taku Ngwenya is one of the clubs most important attacking players and will join the team after the Rugby World Cup.  The club also has two Pumas, both of whom are to play at Rugby World Cup 2011. Secondrower, Manuel Carizza and flyhlaf turned ourtside centre Marcelo Bosch are both well established players at the club having both played for Biarritz for more than four years. The pair are going to be very important for both Argentina in New Zealand 2011 and for Biarritz in the Top 14 and Heineken Cup.
