Argentine players in France - Agen
In the second instalment looking at Argentina's players in France it is the turn of Agen, a club looking to consilidate its place in the Top 14. Agen is into its second season back in the French top-flight after playing several season in France´s second division, the Pro d2. Agen started the 2010-2011 season poorly as the side was overpowered by a number of teams and was at the foot of the ladder. A late fight towards the end of the season saw Agen rise the ladder from eleventh spot to avoid relegation as the team was able to put together some impressive matches. Agen had Two Pumas on its playing roster last season in the form of cenntre Miguel Avramovic and backrower, Alejandro Campos. Avramovic is to miss the start of the season after having got injured during the warm-up phase of the French season but, neverthelessm remains at the club. Campos, on the other hand, will not play for Agen this season but it is not yet clear as to where he will be playing. USA international winger, Kevin Swiryn played his first season as a professional in 2010-2011 and is to return to Agen following Rugby World Cup 2011.
The club has secured the services of two other players from the Americas. Argentine international tighthead prop, Martín Scelzo is to play for Agen after joining the side from 2010 champions, Clermont. Scelzo adds plenty opf experience to the Agen side and will join the team after completing his international duty in New Zealand. In addition to being a French Champion in 2010, Scelzo is also a previous Rugby World Cup Bronze Medalist with Argenitna and a Heineken Cup Champion with Englsih side, Northampton. The club is also to have 23 year old Belisario Agulla, as the younger brother of Pumas winger, Horacio Agulla, is to play professional rugby for the first time on a one year contract with the option of an additional year.
