After four years of playing for Auch in France, including one season in the Top 14, Chilean international secondrower, Sergio Valdés, will be leaving. The Condor international has signed a contract to play for French second division rivals, or Section paloise simply Pau in the 2011-2012 season. The arrival of the 32 year old is part of the clubs recruitment which has also involved the arrival of uncapped Argentine frontrower, Andrés Bordoy from La Rochelle who were relegated after one season in the Top 14. Valdés is a well respected figure in the Pro d2 having played 26 matches for Auch in the 2010-2011 season. The arrival of the 114KG Chilean underlines the contribution of South America to global rugby as players from third tier countries such as Chile are able to play professional rugby in places like France.
