Agustín Smidt to play for Béziers

26 year old former Argentine international secondrower, Agustín Smidt is one of five new arrivals at French club, Béziers for the 2010-2011 season. Smidt is joining the club from English second division side the Rotherham Titans to play in France´s second division, the Pro d2. The others to have signed for the club include New Zealand flyhalf from Rugby World Cup 1995 and 1999, Andrew Mehrtens, Bakary Meïté, Mathieu Siro, Quentin Doumayrou and Sebastien Max. Béziers are returning to the Pro d2 after playing the previus season in the French third division, Féderale 1. Historically, Béziers are the second most succesful club in France with only Toulouse having won mopre French championships.

Smidt has played three international matches for Argentina. His first cap came in 2008 vs Chile with Smidt socring a try in his sides 71-3 victory. His two other caps came in 2010 vs Uruguay and Chile with Smidt socring a try against Los Teros.
