Tarbes Pyrénées sign Matias Viazzo
Following the relegation of Bourgoin to the Pro d2 28 year old Argentine centre Matias Viazzo will be continuing his professional rugby career in France and for a second division side but not Bourgoin. Tarbes Pyrénées Rugby have signed the uncapped Argentine centre following a four year stint playing in the Top 14 for Bourgoin. Four years of top flight rugby was not enough for Viazzo to break into the top Los Pumas squad but he ahs been involved in matches for Argentina A and has played two matches for Argentina against lower rated opposition. Viazo played against both Chile and Uruguay in the 2010 South American Championship and scored a try against Los Teros. He has also represented Argentina at under 21 level.
Viazzo´s professional career dates back to 2005 when the man from Mendoza took up an offer to play in France for former Top 14 club, Béziers. The club is an eleven time French Champion but was relegated to the Pro d2 in 2006 and today is a part of France´s third division. Viazzo played one season for the club while it was in the Top 14 before taking an offer to play for Bourgoin for whom he was a regular starter over a four year period. The three first years were positive with the club competing well but the final year was disasterous as Bourgoin won only two matches in the Top 14 to finish last and be eliminated. Viazzo was played continously out of position at both scrumhalf and flyhalf. With the clubs relegation many players have moved on to other clubs and at 28 years of age Viazzo has an oportunity of trying to help Bourgoin get back to where it belongs in the top flight of French rugby.
