Todd Clever returns for USA Sevens

USA Eagles captain, Todd Clever, will play for the USA Sevens team this coming weekend in the Hong Kong Sevens Tournament. Clever is able to take part due to the completion of the Japanese season in which he was a national champion with his club, Suntory. The Hong Kong Sevens tournament will be the fifth leg of HSBC Sevens World Series and the USA have an interesting pool with matches against China, England and Japan. The USA will be targetting first place having previously defeated England in prior Sevens matches.

The selection of Clever is one of three changes to the squad as coach Al Caravelli has also named uncapped players Taylor Mokate and Peter Tiberio both getting the call up from USA college rugby. Mokate is a forward who is joining the USA Sevens side from the University of Oklahoma and is a former USA Under-20, Junior All-American captain and two time Collegiate All-American. Tiberio joins the side from the University of Arizona. He is a three time Collegiate All-American who offers speed and can play as a utility back.

The Hong Kong Sevens is a three day rather than two day event and involves twenty four teams which is eight more than all other legs in the HSBC Seevns World Series. It will take place from March 25-27 and will involve four teams from the Americas with Argentina, Canada and Mexico all competing alongside the USA.
