Los Pampas XV 38-20 Leopards

Los Pampas XV remain undefeated in South Africa´s Vodacom Cup after the Argentina side completed an impressive 38-20 fifth round victory over the Leopards on Saturday at Ollen Park Stadium in Potchefstroom. The bonus point victory sees Los Pampas XV clear of the pack in first place of the Southern Zone and the highest placed team overall in the Vodacom Cup. Los Pampas XV were hot from the get-go as right winger Agustín Gosio scored a try in the first ten minutes of play. Flyhalf Santiago González Iglesias´s converted the try and slotted a penalty kick in the 23rd minute to put the South Americans up 10-0. As the half drew to a close international capped second rower, Mariano Galarza went over and with the conversion Los Pampas XV led the match 17-10 at the interval.

The game seemed to open up much more after the break and Los Pampas XV broke clear with left winger Juan Imhoff and scrumhalf Tomás Cubelli both scoring as the Argentina side went well clear to lead 31-10. Winger Agustín Gosio scored his second try before his side took started to relax and with the sinbining of Juan Imhoff the Leopards were able to respond as they responded late in the second half. The five try victory underlines Los Pampas XV as a genuine success in producing players who will go on to represent Argentina. Of the side which defeated the Leopards three players were a part of the November 2010 tour of Italy, France and Ireland.

Los Pampas XV will play their round six match on Friday April 1st vs the Pumas in Witbank.
