Gordon Rugby Football Club based in on the North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia have signed uncapped Argentina winger Eric Maroni Suarez for the new season on a one year deal. The Gordon club known as the Highlanders play in Australia's premier competition the Shute Shield and are an historically important team having won the championship on eight occassions, most recently in 1998. Some big name players who have played for the Highlanders include Australian international centre Stirling Mortlock, former English international flyhalf Rob Andrew and USA Eagles flyhalf Mike Hercus.

Maroni Suarez is to join Gordon from Buenos Aires club Olivos who finished ninth the the 2010 URBA Top 14. His move means there will be an Argentina vs Chile battle to look forward to in the 2011 Shute Shield as Chilean international forward, Cristobal Westenenk plays for one of the best teams in the competition, Manly. In addition to playing for Gordon, Maroni Suarez will use the opportunity to study Business Management in Sydney.
