Takudzwa Ngwenya - The Best of 2007-2010
The former USA under 19 and USA Sevens Rugby player has come a long way but 25 year old USA international winger Takudzwa Ngwenya is still remembered for his try vs South Africa at Rugby World Cup 2007 which was officially the try of the tournament and the try of the year 2007. Since that time he has made a huge name for himself in Europe and in particular in France playing for Top 14 powerhouses, Biarritz. Curiously there was not a big list of clubs trying to snap him up after Rugby World Cup 2007. Rather, Ngwenya was offered a month long trial for English club, Saracens to play in what was then known as the Guinness Premiership. Shortly there after, however, a big offer came along from Biarritz and he signed a two year deal which he has since extended
Thus far he has scored five tries for Biarritz in the current Top 14 season. If that was not enough he is entering this weekends round of the Heineken Cup as the only player in to have scored four tries so far in the current season. His outstanding form is a continuation of what the rugby world have come to expect from him as he scored six tries in last seasons Heineken Cup including an unforgettable try vs the Ospreys which saw Ngwenya repeat his try vs South Africa - this time leaving Welsh speedster Shaen Williams for dead.
It is therefore only fitting that a video highlights package be shown as a dedication to one of the worlds best wingers and a player certain to shine at this years Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Ngwenya is a case in point of the players to be found in the Americas as the region continues to develop and produce better teams and in turn increasingly merits an opportunity of hosting a Rugby World Cup.
