Born in Stamford, Connecticut and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania until moving with his family to England at age 11 is one of the most respected USA international players and certainly the most high profile USA player in England - Chris Wyles. The 27 year old wing / fullback has been having a solid season for Aviva Premiership and Heineken Cup side Saracens in English and European rugby. He has established himself as a first choice player with a dangeous counter-attacking game.
The former USA Rugby Sevens captain made his debut for the USA at the 2007 Hong Kong Sevens which was soon followed by his selection for the USA Eagles in that years Churchill Cup. His impressive form saw Wyles selected for Rugby World Cup 2007 and the Eagles first choice fullback and in France 2007 he played all four matches for his country, scoring a try vs tournament winners South Africa and he was named the American Rugby news Player of the Year. His performances attracted the then Saracens coach Eddie Jones who signed him in 2008. He is certain to play at Rugby World Cup 2011 and be one of his country´s most dangerous players. Wyles has played 23 international matches for the USA Eagles thus far.
Back at the start of the 2010-2011 Aviva Premiership season, Wyles was involved in a sensational try in the opening game as Saracens took on London Irish at Twickenham. Wyles received a pass and instantly passed it behind his back to set up Ernst Joubert in the corner. What Wyles has been able to produce is great performances regularly. In last seasons semifinal victory vs Northampton Wyles scored a try. In last months European tour, Wyles slotted a drop goal vs Georgia in the groundbreaking clash in Tblissi and he scored two tries vs Russia in the home test in Denver during this years Churchill Cup.
The next Aviva Premiership match for Saracens will be a home fixture at the largest stadium in the U.K. - Wembley Stadium on December 26 vs fellow London side - London Wasps. Firstly, however, Saracens will travel to Paris to face Racing Metro this weekend.
