Pumas 27 year old scrumhalf, Nicolas Vergallo will be staying at European Champions Stade Toulousain until 2014 after extending his contract with the club for an additional three seasons. The extention means Toulouse now have three long term Argentine players as Nicolas Vergallo joins secondrower Patricio Albacete and hooker Alberto Vernet Basulado on long term deals. Vergallo joined Toulouse this season after playing the previous two for current Pro d2 team, US Dax. The desire of Toulouse to hold onto the Rosario native is a clear indication that he has been impressing the coaching staff in the short time he has been at the club. It also suggests that he should be the starting scumhalf for Argentina in the november international tour of Italy, France and Ireland. Vergallo has played 14 tests for Los Pumas in his career thus far.
Vergallo started at scrumhalf for Toulouse in their Heineken Cup away victory vs Wales´ Newport Dragons at Rodney Parade on saturday. The win put Toulouse in firm control of their group as the only undefeated side after two rounds. Toulouse will play host to Perpignan this coming saturday in Round 10 of the Top 14 as the Heineken Cup takes a break until December with Toulouse travelling to Scotland to take on Glasgow on December 10.
