USA Eagles international winger, Zee Ngwenya, continues to enhance his reputation as the fastest winger in world rugby with an outstanding performance on Sunday for Biarritz as the French side took firm control of their Heineken Cup group with a 35-15 home win vs Ulster. Ngwenya scored two of his teams four tries with French test prop Sylvain Marconnet and Pumas secondrower, Manuel Carizza also scoring.
The match was a game defined by two very different halves with scores tied at 3-3 at half time. In the second half, things changes with Biarritz running wild. Inspired by Ngwenya´s pace, Biarritz played a very attacking game with Ngwenya breaking the line after recieving a box kick well inside his own half from South African international Ruan Pienaar in the 41st minute. Three minutes latter it would be Ngwenya who finished off what he started following good play by Biarritz´s forwards. The teams second try was scored by Argentina´s Manuel Carizza in the 60th minute. It followed two penalties by French scrumhalf Dimitri Yachvilli. The scores were 23-3 to Biarritz at this stage. Ulster fought back through Irish international winger Andrew Trimble but with Sylvain Marconnet´s try in the 68th minute the game was in the bag with Biarritz leading 30-8. Irish international backrower, Stephen Ferris managed a second try for the visitors on full time but Ngwenya had scored his second try two minutes earlier to give Biarritz a bonus point victory.
Biarritz next face Italian side Aironi in two matches when the Heineken Cup returns in December. Ulster, face a tougher challenge with home and away matches against English club, Bath. The French side look to be in total control of this group and should get two bonus point victories vs Aironi which would almost guarantee Biarritz´s place in the quarter finals. Firstly, Biarritz have quite a tough series of four Top 14 games to deal with. The first being a home match vs French champions, Clermont on saturday. Biarritz are currently in 8th place in the Top 14.
