Louis Stanfill has swapped Australia for Italy

USA backrower Louis Stanfill has left his Australian team in Canberra to join up with Mogliano Veneto to play in Italy´s premiership, the Super 10. His experience in Australia was amateur and so despite previously playing in a top rugby country his contract with Mogliano is his first actual professional contract. He made his debut for the club two weeks ago vs Grant Ducato and was very successful as he won man of the match.

His move to Italy took place after the end of the Australian rugby season, yet his club wanted him to stay for two additional weeks. Mogliano currently lie in 9th place after four rounds. They lost 47-10 on the weekend to Cavalieri Prato. The town of Mogliano is located only 10KM from Treviso who play in the Magners League. Should Stanfill continue to impress he may well be targetted to take the step up to the Magners League.

It is great news for the USA Eagles as it means Stanfill will have the opportunity to improve as a player by playing in a professional environment and should be able to form an outstanding backrow combination with Todd Clever. The pair loom as being key forwards for the United States in next years Rugby World Cup.
