Rugby World Cup 2007 - Argentina vs Georgia

Four days after defeating France to open Rugby World Cup 2007, Argentina played their second match of the tournament in Lyon vs Georgia. It was the first ever match between the two countries.

Argentina were looking for a bonus point win to provide themselves with every possible advantage in the group. To do this, they needed to score four tries. If Argentina could indeed win the match and score four tries it would put them in an almost untouchable position.

It was Georgia´s first match of the tournament and the Europeans looked a lot fresher than Los Pumas who were clearly tired from the first match. After starting slowly, Argentina found their way in the second half to finish the match with a bonus point win but it was not easy, not at all.

In Georgia´s next match, they almost defeated Ireland in what would have been the greatest ever shock in the history or the Rugby World Cup. Argentina and Georgia will meet again at Rugby World Cup 2011 as they are both in Pool B.
